1970 Seiko Mechanical Diver Contemporary Design Limited model for the 80th anniversary of Naomi Uemura's birth!

This is the new Automatic Diver's Watch SLA049J1, the Modern Re-interpretation of the historical 1970 Seiko's 150M Diver's watch, this New "Captain Willard"  Diver SLA049J1, is released to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Naomi Uemura's birth.

Born in 1941, the adventurer was the first Japanese mountaineer to reach the summit of Mt Everest in 1970. Three months later, he reached the top of Denali in Alaska and became the first adventurer to reach the tallest peaks on all five continents. From 1974 to 1976 when he completed a 12,500km solo dog-sledge run from Greenland to Alaska, Naomi Uemura was wearing the Seiko 150M Diver's watch, which was proven to be the best and most reliable equipment that accompanied him to the different peaks.

This commemorative SLA049 (SBDX045) Special Limited Model is featured in the blue-patterned dial, simulating the mountainous terrain that Uemura is so devoted to loving; the color on the dial and bezel are in a blue tone that imitates the earth's upper atmospheric layers.

The elegantly shaped case of the 1970 original model is completely modernized by edging it with an elaborate mirror surface. One of the attractions is the unique surface processing technology "Diamond Shield" that can maintain the original beauty of the material and the delicate surface finish for a very long time.

The SLA049J1 is preset with a stainless steel bracelet, but like the original 1970 Diver's model, it also comes with a blue-collar reinforced silicone strap that features a rail-like pattern. The serial number of the limited 1,200 pieces is engraved at the back cover along with the notation "NAOMI UEMURA 80TH ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION" in honor of the great adventurer.
